Nichts. Was im Leben wichtig ist.

Tao!

Graz/AT

(Nothing. What Matters in Life.)

Pierre Anthon left school the day he found out that it was not worth doing anything as nothing mattered anyhow. From that day on, he sits in a plum tree throwing small fruits and big ideas at his classmates. They, however, don’t want to accept his behaviour and go on a painful search for things that do matter. As one after the other has to add something to the pile of meaning, their sacrifices become increasingly subtle, bloody and personal. Meanwhile, the plums grow, and so does the feeling that they should have stopped before...

The novel by Danish author Janne Teller was controversially received upon publication; at the same time, it was banned from schools and awarded the Danish children’s books prize. Today, however, the novel has been translated into many languages and is often read at school.

"TaO! – Theater am Ortweinplatz" was founded in 1992 by Manfred Weissensteiner. Over the years, it has become an important driving force for young theatre. Many of the young actors performing on stage are members of the weekly TaO! theatre workshops.

„Ja, es ist schon erstaunlich, dass ein Buch heutzutage in Westeuropa derart bekämpft werden kann. Nicht wegen brutaler oder sexistischer oder verhetzender Inhalte, sondern nur wegen der Fragen, die es aufwirft.“
