(The white and the black bear)

Every night, after the bedside lamp has been extinguished, Pennie’s room turns into a vast forest. The forest is inhabited by bears. And at the very thought, one approaches with plodding steps. It is a fearless white bear who frolics, shines in the darkness, and turns night into day. Pennie likes his way a lot, but only until she gets tired of her fellow, who wouldn’t let her sleep. But one night, the white bear doesn’t show up. The next night, he wouldn’t come either and it stays pitch-dark. But suddenly, a black bear appears out of nowhere. He waits patiently until the girl has snuggled up in her bed and closed her eyes. With his help, feeling secure in the darkness of the night is going to be easy.

Zikade Theater Stuttgart was founded in 2000 by Ines Müller-Braunschweig. She works as a solo actor, as a director for other stages and as a lecturer in Stuttgart. Antje Töpfer has worked as a puppeteer in the independent theatre scene since she graduated from the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart in 2003.
