Bubble Boy

Tom is 12 years old. And Tom lives in a plastic bubble. He has never left his small, sterile world, beacuse he suffers from a serious autoimmune disorder called SCID. Any contact with the outside world or with another human could mean certain death for him. However, a dedicated team of doctors has found a cure. Before they can give it to Tom, though, he has to be freed in a sensational procedure. Will they succeed? Bubble Boy is based on a true story.


“Theatre needs to be experienceable” is the motto of the Dutch theatre group Het Lab Utrecht. The group gives young directors and actors the chance to realise theatre and dance performances for a young audience and organises discussions, meetings and workshops to establish new theatre forms. During and after their shows, Het Lab Utrecht brings their audience together, sometimes on stage, sometimes in the rehearsal room.
